As usual gardening tools are provided but feel free to bring your own – also please don’t forget your gardening gloves and sturdy footwear – the ground will probably be very muddy!!
Refreshments will be provided when we finish.

A huge thank you to all our volunteers who helped with the plant sale in May. We made over £600 in 2 hours from the sale of plants, hot drinks and cakes. The lovely sunny weather and lots of customers made it a very successful event. Thanks as well to everyone whose baked cakes for the occasion.

We meet up again on Saturday June 11th at 10am in the main car park and will continue with general clearing work.

Tools will be provided but feel free to bring your own and remember your gardening gloves and sturdy footwear. All work is organised and supervised by the head gardener Frank and we generally work for two hours after which hot drinks and home made cakes are provided.

Future dates are

Saturday 11th June

No sessions in July or August

Saturday 10th September

We are saddened to hear of the death of Kay Mellor, who has been a very supportive president of the Friends for many years. Our thoughts are with her family.

Plant Sale – 14th May

Thanks to the volunteers who attended in April. We cleared and tidied up a lot of overgrown areas which will hopefully benefit from our work over the coming months.

There is no working session in May because we are holding our plant sale on Saturday 14th starting at 9.30am. We have been unable to run this event for the past 2 years so we are hoping for a good attendance – please tell friends, neighbours and family as we want to sell as much as possible to raise funds.

There will be a selection of bedding plants, perennials and vegetables for sale – some of the perennials have been grown from cuttings from plants in The Hollies.

We’re also running a cake stall serving hot drinks and home made cakes.

We would appreciate help setting up the event from 9am and also clearing up from about 11.15am so please come along if you can. Please note and also tell others that the sale is cash only.

Future dates:

Saturday 11th June 10am

July and August – summer break so no meetings

Saturday 9th April

Thanks to all our volunteers who attended in March. We cleared up a lot of overgrown areas which will hopefully benefit from our work over the coming months.

We meet up again on Saturday April 9th at 10am in the main car park and will continue with general clearing work. Tools will be provided but feel free to bring your own and remember your gardening gloves and sturdy footwear. All work is organised and supervised by the head gardener Frank and we generally work for two hours after which hot drinks and home made cakes are provided.

In previous years we have held a fund raising plant sale instead of having a working session in May and we will be returning to this on Saturday 14th May.

We will still need volunteers to help out at the sale which will start at 9.30am, and we also need people from 9am to help with setting up and again at 11am to help clear away.

We will also have a coffee and cake stall and would appreciate a couple of volunteers to run this. Any donations of cakes to sell are welcome.

You can also help in buying plants and spreading the word to friends and relatives to do the same.

All profits go to buy bulbs, shrubs and equipment for The Hollies.

Future dates are

Saturday 14th May (plant sale)

Saturday 11th June

There are no working sessions in July and August but we’ll re-commence on Saturday 10th September.

Just a short update to let you know that Frank is self isolating at the moment and won’t be joining us on Saturday.

We’re going ahead with the work as normal having discussed what we’ll be doing with him and have passed on our best wishes.

The only problem we may have is a shortage of tools so please bring along anything you have (within reason!)

Look forward to seeing you all on Saturday at 10am in the car park.
