Green-fingered residents will be meeting at the Friends of the Hollies annual plant sale this weekend, which aims to raise money towards woodland maintenance.

The plant sale will take place this Saturday, 16th May from 9:30am – 11:30am just beyond the Hollies car park off Weetwood Lane.

Friends of the Hollies volunteer Liz Mayers said: “The money raised through the plant sale goes towards regenerating the area. We use the money to buy bulbs, plants and shrubs, which we can then plant in the areas we clear.”

“It also raises awareness of the work we do and hopefully encourages other volunteers to join us.”

Friends of the Hollies was formed in 2011 by local residents interested in maintaining and enhancing the natural beauty of The Hollies woodland area.

Plant Sale Time!

Don’t forget about the annual Plant Sale which will take place on Saturday 16 May, at 9.30 am near the car park in The Hollies. There’ll be a great selection of plants available, including many from cuttings taken during the regular working parties!

It has proved very popular in past years, and is a great way to raise funds that are then spent on bulbs and plants for the area.

Look forward to seeing you there.
