We’re launching a hands on working session on Wednesday May 4th between 4.30pm and 7.30pm and will be supervised by one of the gardening team.
Meet at The Hollies car park at 4.30pm but if you’re arriving later just follow the signs. You’ll need stout shoes and gardening gloves plus secateurs and a spade (if possible). Refreshments will be provided.
Remember that helping for even half an hour can make a huge difference and will be greatly appreciated!

I think the working party is a great idea. I hope it can take on board the need to protect and enhance wildlife in The Hollies. For a number of years I have undertaken bird surveys in The Hollies on behalf of the Countryside Department of Leeds City Council. There are a number of species regularly found which are unusual in an urban situation including whitethroat, blackcap and goldcrest, as well as more common woodland species such as nuthatch, treecreeper and great spotted woodpecker. The Hollies also provide habitat for a number of interesting insects, including dragonflies, and mammals. It would be good to receive an input from the Countryside Department as to how the working party to contribute to helping wildlife in the Hollies.
