A big thank you and well done to everyone who turned up for the last working party. We cleared a big area, including a number of laurels, and intend planting snowdrops and cherry trees later in the year.

Why not admire our achievements and take a walk in the Hollies now. It may be wintertime, but there are some wonderful scented shrubs. The sarcococcus, viburnum bodnantense, and witch hazels are all out and the hellebores (Christmas roses) by the tennis courts are coming into flower too.
So let’s make an even bigger difference to the Hollies in 2013.

Come and join us on Saturday 8 December for our last working party of 2012! We will meet at 10am in The Hollies car park, and you’ll need warm clothing, stout shoes or boots and gloves.
We will round off the morning with home-made refreshments, including mince pies!

New Rover Cricket Club have received a donation of 420 saplings from The Woodland Trust as part of their More Trees More Good campaign. The trees will provide natural colour and shade as well as helping to support local wildlife with food and shelter. They will all be planted along the public footpaths which skirt the cricket ground, where they can be enjoyed by everyone
The Club would like to invite Friends of The Hollies to join them at their Community Tree Planting Day between 1pm and 4pm this Saturday 17th November at the ground on Smithy Mills Lane, just off Long Causeway near the Ring Road junction.
Anyone wishing to come along and plant a tree should bring a coat, warm clothes and boots or wellies are recommended. Free warm refreshments will provided to all tree planters and the Club’s normal bar will be open to serve drinks and other snacks. Also, there will be a Christmas Tree sale in the club car park.
The autumn colours in The Hollies are looking fabulous at the moment!

It was a very busy morning and you planted: 7 shrubs, 1000 narcissi, 4 full buckets of wild daffodils, 2 full buckets of bluebells, and 100 crocus! You even did some clearing.

Our October Working Party will be held on Saturday 13th and we are going to be busy! We will have masses of bulbs and also some shrubs to plant, and need all the helping hands we can get.
We hope you can come along, and also bring a friend! Or two or three…
